This afternoon, a significant event took place at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre as key leaders, including President Hakainde Hichilema, participated in the Clergy Prayer and Envisioning Gathering. The gathering serves as a precursor to Zambia’s 18th October National Day of Prayer, a day dedicated to reflection, thanksgiving, and seeking guidance for the nation’s future.

In a heartfelt address, President Hichilema shared a message of gratitude, particularly for the blessing of rains that have graced the country in recent months, signifying God’s grace upon the land. Drawing inspiration from the Psalmist’s words, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord” (Psalm 33:12), the President emphasized the central role that faith plays in Zambia’s national identity and development.

The President urged the church to continue playing a pivotal role as the moral compass of the nation, guiding citizens to uphold Zambia’s core values and principles. “As a partner in the nation’s progress, the church has an essential responsibility to preach love, unity, and hard work,” he stated. He also highlighted the importance of teaching children from an early age the values that define the Zambian identity, ensuring the continuation of these principles for future generations.

Reaffirming the government’s commitment to the supremacy of God in Zambia, President Hichilema underscored the crucial role the church plays in shaping the nation’s moral and spiritual foundation. As the National Day of Prayer approaches, the call for collective reflection, unity, and national healing resonates across the country, inviting all Zambians to join in prayer for the prosperity and well-being of the nation.

The gathering was a powerful reminder of the strength found in faith and unity, as leaders, clergy, and citizens alike come together to envision a prosperous future under the guidance of God.
