The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced the rulings of its Arbitration Tribunal on electoral appeals submitted by various candidates regarding their eligibility for the upcoming elections.

The tribunal has reinstated Kabwe Warriors chairperson Mutale Ng’andu on the ballot after he was previously declared ineligible by both the Electoral Committee and the Appeals Committee. This decision now allows Ng’andu to contest for the position of FAZ Vice President in the elections scheduled for March 29, 2025. He will be joining incumbent Justin Mumba on the ballot.

Meanwhile, the tribunal upheld the decision of the Electoral Appeals Committee regarding Northern Province chairperson Mwansa Kapyanga, who had appealed his ineligibility ruling. With this verdict, Kapyanga remains ineligible to re-contest his position in the Northern Province elections set for March 21, 2025.

Similarly, the tribunal rejected the appeals of Gideon Mwenya and Pivoty Simwanza, both of whom sought to contest the FAZ Vice Presidency. The decision of the Electoral Appeals Committee remains unchanged, and both candidates remain disqualified from the race.

FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga reaffirmed the association’s commitment to upholding a fair and transparent electoral process in accordance with FAZ statutes and governance principles.

“This means that Mr. Ng’andu is now eligible to contest for the position of FAZ Vice President in the March 29 elections,” Kamanga said.

With these rulings, FAZ moves closer to finalizing its election process, ensuring compliance with its governance structures.
