Construction of the 7.3-kilometre Chibuluma Concrete Road in Kitwe has reached 92% completion, marking significant progress in the long-awaited infrastructure project.
The entire stretch of the road has now been covered with a rigid concrete pavement, a milestone that signals the near completion of the major construction phase. Currently, the contractor is focusing on finalizing key finishing works, including drainage systems, walkways, kerbstone installation, pre-marking for road marking, and the installation of road signs in certain sections.
The project, which aims to enhance road durability and improve traffic flow in Kitwe, remains on schedule and is expected to be fully completed by May 2025. Once finished, the Chibuluma Concrete Road will provide a more resilient and long-lasting road surface, benefiting motorists and businesses in the area.
Residents and road users have expressed optimism about the improvements, as the project is set to enhance connectivity and ease transport challenges. The government and stakeholders continue to monitor progress to ensure that all aspects of the construction meet the required standards before the official handover.
