Zambia’s tourism sector experienced remarkable growth in 2024, generating K319.5 million in non-tax revenue—59 percent above the targeted K209 million, Minister of Tourism Rodney Sikumba has announced.

Speaking at a media briefing on Thursday, Sikumba attributed this success to strategic tourism promotion efforts and collaboration with the private sector. He also reported that Zambia saw a significant increase in international tourist arrivals, reaching 2,199,820 visitors in 2024 compared to 1,392,153 in 2023, marking a nearly 70 percent growth.

“This milestone could not have been achieved without the support of the private sector, the media, and the Ministry of Tourism’s dedicated efforts,” Sikumba stated.

The Business Coalition Taskforce (BCT) has congratulated Minister Sikumba, the Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA), and the Tourism Council of Zambia (TCZ) for their contributions to the record-breaking performance in 2024.

Tourism remains a key pillar of Zambia’s economy, with increased investments in infrastructure, digital marketing campaigns, and conservation efforts playing a crucial role in attracting both domestic and international visitors.

With sustained efforts and continued partnerships, stakeholders are optimistic that Zambia’s tourism sector will maintain its upward trajectory in the coming years.
