The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has been given until February 28, 2025, to hold its elective Annual General Meeting (AGM), following a directive from the Attorney General’s office. The instruction was communicated through a letter addressed to the National Sports Council of Zambia (NSCZ), emphasizing the need for a transparent electoral process.

Reading out the contents of the letter to the media, NSCZ Director Sombwa Musunsa confirmed that FAZ must conduct elections before the specified deadline and appoint a credible electoral committee to oversee the nomination and voting process.

Musunsa clarified that this decision follows legal guidance stating that the tenure of the FAZ President, Vice President, and Executive Committee members will officially expire on February 28, 2025. He further assured stakeholders that NSCZ’s involvement is not an attempt to interfere in FAZ’s affairs but rather an effort to foster harmony within Zambia’s football community.

This directive is expected to set the stage for a structured and transparent election process, ensuring stability in Zambian football governance. The upcoming elections will be crucial in determining the leadership that will steer FAZ forward in the coming years.
