The rehabilitation of the 210-kilometer Chinsali-Nakonde Road in Muchinga Province has reached an impressive 99% completion, with road markings currently underway. This significant infrastructure project is being executed by the Government of Zambia through the Road Development Agency (RDA).
Key Details of the Project
The rehabilitation works on this vital road, which connects Chinsali to Nakonde, were divided into two sections for efficient execution:
- Lot 1: Chinsali to Isoka (103 kilometers)
- Lot 2: Isoka to Nakonde (107 kilometers)
This division has allowed for better resource allocation and project management, ensuring timely progress on both sections.
Economic Impact
The project has not only improved road infrastructure but also created employment opportunities for local communities. During the construction phase, a total of 1,150 individuals were employed, significantly boosting the local economy.
Expected Completion
With only a fraction of work remaining, the rehabilitation is expected to be fully completed before the end of 2024. Once finalized, the upgraded road will enhance transportation, facilitate trade, and improve access to essential services in Muchinga Province and beyond.
The Chinsali-Nakonde Road is a critical artery in Zambia’s transport network, and its completion will mark a significant milestone in the country’s infrastructure development efforts.
