President Hakainde Hichilema has revealed that Zambia is gaining recognition from the United Nations (UN) and other African nations for its transformative policies. During his courtesy call at the Chabuka Traditional Ceremony in Mansa District, Luapula Province, the President highlighted that the UN is considering Zambia as a reference point for what it terms “minimum policies” every government should implement for the benefit of its citizens.
These policies include Zambia’s Free Education initiative, Constituency Development Fund (CDF) improvements, and a broader economic revitalization strategy that has seen remarkable success since President Hichilema took office three years ago.
Learning from Zambia’s Success
The President emphasized that other African leaders are reaching out to learn from Zambia’s progress. “The UN is also studying our approach to the CDF. Presidents across Africa ask me, ‘HH, how did you do this?’ They’ve heard about the classrooms, water projects, health centers, and maternity wings being developed simultaneously,” he noted.
Despite being in office for only three years, the President contrasted Zambia’s achievements with countries where leadership spans decades with less tangible results.
Infrastructure Developments
Among the significant plans announced, President Hichilema revealed the upcoming upgrade of Mansa Airport to international standards. This development aims to boost investment in Luapula Province and other regions. Additionally, airports in Chipata, Choma, and Nakonde will be revamped to enhance connectivity and economic growth.
“Mansa, for the first time since independence, will have an international airport. Investors will have better access to different sectors in the region,” the President said.
Equal Development Across Provinces
President Hichilema reiterated his administration’s commitment to equitable development across Zambia. By engaging with local communities at traditional ceremonies, he aims to understand their challenges and tailor solutions effectively.
“As I travel across provinces, I listen and learn. This helps us deliver development without bias. Zambia will grow equally,” he assured.
A Vision for a Prosperous Zambia
The President appealed to citizens to maintain their trust in his leadership. “Give us your trust and allow us to fix this country. We will do it in a well-organized and sustainable way,” he urged.
President Hichilema’s remarks underscore Zambia’s growing status as a regional beacon of effective governance and development. By prioritizing education, infrastructure, and community-driven policies, his administration is setting a precedent for other nations to follow.
