Vice President Mutale Nalumango was among the many residents who gathered at Nkholoma Stadium for the third annual Lusaka Province Independence Carnival, a vibrant event celebrating Zambia’s rich cultural heritage. The colorful celebration, which featured traditional dances from all ten provinces of Zambia, offered attendees a spectacular showcase of the country’s diversity.
Bands such as Amayenge Asoza and Green Labels entertained the crowd, bringing infectious energy and a festive atmosphere to the carnival. The event also attracted several dignitaries, including Lusaka Province Permanent Secretary Robert Kamalata and Zanaco Chief Executive Officer Mukwandi Chibesakunda, who joined in the celebrations.
Various institutions, including Zambia National Service (ZNS) and Zanaco, exhibited during the carnival, providing visitors with a glimpse into their operations. Vice President Nalumango toured the exhibition stands, engaging with the exhibitors and showing appreciation for their contributions to the event.
As Zambia approaches its Diamond Jubilee, with the 60th Independence Day celebration scheduled for October 24, the carnival served as a fitting curtain-raiser for the national festivities. It was a reminder of Zambia’s unity, strength, and the importance of cultural heritage in fostering national pride.
