10 Things You Didn’t Know About Iain Hesford

  1. Iain Hesford was born on the 4th of March 1960
  2. He was an English professional footballer
  3. Iain played as a goalkeeper for teams including Blackpool, Eastern, Sunderland and South China
  4. Hesford began his career at Blackpool, where he played more than 200 games and won seven caps for the England Under-21 team
  5. When he made his debut, against Oldham Athletic on 20 August 1977, aged 17, he became the youngest goalkeeper ever to play for Blackpool in a League game
  6. As he ran out for the second half, he offended the Latics support by flashing them a “V” sign
  7. Hesford’s career in Hong Kong started in July 1992 when he joined Eastern
  8. He played for the club for 4 years before he moved to Sing Tao in 1996-97 season and later South China in 1997-98
  9. On 20 November 2014, the body of Hesford was discovered
  10. The local newspaper, the Blackpool Gazette, noted a “suspected heart attack.”
