10 Things You Didn’t Know About Lupando Katoloshi Mwape

  1. Lupando Mwape was a Zambian politician.
  2. He served as Vice-President of Zambia from 2004 to 2006 under President Levy Mwanawasa.
  3. Mwape never got defeated in the 2006 parliamentary election which made President Levy Mwanawasa re-appointed him as Vice-President.
  4. Lupando was succeeded by Rupiah Banda, who became president on Mwanawasa’s death in 2008.
  5. Before his death, in terms of education he was a diplomatic leader with brains as he attained a Bachelor of Engineering and Educationalist in the Technical establishment, Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, Technical and Vocational Lecturer only to mention a few….
  6. Lupando Mwape also held several posts in Zambia during his reign, he was elected as a Member of Parliament in September 2000.
  7. He was appointed as Minister of Communications and Transport and concurrently served as Chairman of Africa Telecommunications Union (ATU) in May 2001.
  8. At Party level, Mwape was Co-opted MMD Northern Province Vice-Chairman in 2001 and became Chairman from April 2003.
  9. As Resident Ambassador to P.R. China 2007-2009, His Excellency Lupando Augustine Festus K. Mwape was a Non-Residential Ambassador to DPR Korea, Kingdom of Thailand, Kingdom of Cambodia, Mongolia, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Vietnam, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
  10. Mwape died in Johannesburg, South Africa in January 2019 at the age of 68 .
